This is my first real fan art of our tough little Earthbender Toph of the Bei Fong family. Since I coudln't come up an idea that can combine a form of animal into Toph's element (earth) like the way I did with Iroh and Zuko, I decided to go for this idea i got. The calligraphy is self-explainatory, "The Blind Bandit: Being Fong Toph, drawn by Keng Shen (Dennis) Hu.
*Added by the artist* Here's a very interesting thing to know about our tough and cranky little Earthbender: Toph does not practice Hung Gar like other Earthbenders and she practice Southern Mantis style [link] . To make it more interesting, the Southern Mantis style is not even related to the Praying Mantis (or the Northern/common Mantis Style) we see most martial artists practicing. [link] If you are truly devoted to Bei Fong Toph and you should read these two articles and you'll appreciate how much research and effort the writers took to find a style that truly compliment a warrior such as Toph. You have to uncerstand that Toph is like a "sinker" in baseball, it doesnt' come in highspeed (with exception of Wang Chien-ming) but it comes in with nasty spin power. She initiates slow but finishes strong, really strong. The more you dig into these infos and you'll find out what I meatn. |

People say "LOVE is so important that you can't live without it!"
Uh huh, oxygen is just as important.
By the way, the Mantis Style used by Toph is not really Mantis Style we know. That style is called Southern Mantis due to some history reasons. You can find out more about her on Wiki topic about Toph.
On the ohter hand, I did hte dragon and snake thing for Iroh and Zuko is inspired by the style of Hong Kong comics. Sometimes they draw dragon and other kinda stuff to represent the power of the characters in the fight scene.
